PPA Brings a Spirit of Safety to the 79th Mining and Energy Commemoration Ceremony through its Advanced Rescue & Fire Truck Exhibition

The mining and energy sector has long been the backbone of Indonesia's economy. Its contribution is not limited to state revenue but also drives national development. History records how important this sector has been, even from the days of the independence struggle.

The heroic action of young people led by Arie Frederik Lasut, who paid with his life to take back and hold national control of the mining sector from colonial rule on 28 September 1945, is a milestone worth remembering. That date was later designated the National Mining and Energy Anniversary.

From late September through early October 2024 a range of mining and energy events were held, such as the Good Mining Practice (GMP) Awards, the Mining and Energy Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony and the heavy mining equipment exhibition at Monas, and the Subroto Awards — the highest award from KESDM in mining and energy.

Returning with the Aditama (gold) Award and the Best Trophy from the GMP Awards 2024, PT Putra Perkasa Abadi (PPA), one of the contractors working in the mining sector, took part in the Energy & Mining Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony held by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources on 10 October 2024.

At the event, attended by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia and PPA President Director Joko Tri Raharjo, PPA had the opportunity to join the heavy mining equipment exhibition, bringing a number of units from one of its subsidiaries, Star Wagen Indonesia (SWI), the official dealer for Mercedes Benz heavy equipment.

PPA also had the opportunity to introduce Indonesia's first integrated command and rescue unit: a rescue truck fitted with equipment supporting 5 types of rescue — water rescue, vehicle rescue, jungle rescue, fire rescue and high angle rescue — along with an advanced command centre feature to integrate the rescue actions carried out. PPA also introduced its fire truck, fitted with a water tank, foam tank, electrical equipment and fire rescue gear.

The presence of the integrated command rescue & fire unit alongside SWI's best heavy mining equipment shows PPA Group's commitment to raising occupational safety standards in the mining sector, and affirms PPA's active role in supporting the sector's development with safety and sustainability to the fore.
