PPA Group Ready for the 2nd KFRC 2023

Attending the Technical Meeting, PPA Group is Determined to Defend its Overall Champion Title

After dominating the titles as Overall Champion and 2nd Overall Champion at the 1st Kalimantan Fire & Rescue Challenge (KFRC), PT Putra Perkasa Abadi (PPA) and PT Antareja Mahada Makmur (AMM) of PPA Group attended the technical meeting for the 2nd KFRC 2023 on 2–4 May 2023.

The first KFRC was held in Banjar Baru, South Kalimantan by the South Kalimantan Mine Technical Heads Forum (FKTT Kalsesl) together with the Central Kalimantan Emergency Response Forum on 7–11 September 2022. At that first KFRC, PPA Group won the Overall Champion and 2nd Overall Champion titles with an overall haul of 4 golds, 4 silvers and 1 bronze, and took home The Best Captain title as well.

"Tahun lalu ERT PPA Group berhasil meraih juara umum, jadi tahun ini akan berusaha mempertahankan juara umum tersebut," explained Andi W.S, coach of the PPA Group ERT, on Friday (5/5/2023).

The second KFRC is hosted by FKTT Central Kalimantan, with its technical meeting held in Palangkaraya. The technical meeting was attended by instructors and managers of the participating teams, drawn from the Emergency Response Teams (ERT) of 22 mining companies across Kalimantan.

At the technical meeting the organisers presented the challenge scheme, the scoring system, and the props and TEA the teams will bring and use. A workshop was also held to discuss 2 new challenges: Wildland Fire (forest and land firefighting) and Swift Water Rescue (rescuing victims in fast-flowing water).

By way of preparation, Andi W.S, coach of the PPA Group ERT, explained that the team has trained for roughly a month, focusing on all the challenges being contested: Wildland Fire Fighting, Swift Water Rescue, High Angle Rescue, Road Accident Rescue, Fire Fighter Competency Test and Fire Fighter Fitness Drill.

Andi also expressed his hope that the PPA Group ERT's participation in this event will sharpen the team's rescue skills.

"Harapannya dalam mengikuti challenge ini adalah sebagai wadah untuk mengasah skill tentang Rescue, menambah pengetahuan dan sebagai ajang untuk bersilaturahmi sesama tim ERT se-Kalimantan," Andi continued.

The second KFRC, to be held on 3–10 June in Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan, deliberately carries the "Challenge" concept, with the event intended as a place to educate about rescue — both the public and the participating ERT teams — rather than merely a contest of skill.
