PPA's Commitment to Mining Safety Rewarded with the Subroto Award

In its effort to strengthen its role in Indonesia's mining sector, PT Putra Perkasa Abadi (PPA) affirms its commitment to operational safety through a principle internalised over two decades: Safe & Strong Operational Performance. The slogan is backed by an unlimited budget for safety policy, reflecting PPA's dedication to creating a safe working environment and to innovating in mining safety technology.

For that commitment, PPA received the Subroto Award 2024 from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) on Thursday (10/10/2024).

The Subroto Award is the highest award in the energy and mineral resources sector, given by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to stakeholders who have shown outstanding performance in advancing the sector.

At the event, President Joko Widodo and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia attended to open this prestigious awards programme for Indonesia's energy and mineral resources sector.

"PPA sangat menghargai kesehatan dan keselamatan pekerjanya, statistik kecelakaan tertinggi di pertambangan ada pada benda bergerak (kendaraan). Oleh karena itu PPA mengembangkan teknologi untuk meningkatkan keselamatan pekerja, sesuai dengan tagline kami, Safe and Strong Operational Performance," said Joko Triraharjo, PPA President Director, after receiving the award.

PPA won the Subroto Award in the Mineral and Coal Safety, Engineering and Environmental Protection Group, in the field of Minerba Engineering and Environmental Innovation, in the Mining Safety for Mining Services Companies category, for its heavy equipment safety innovation named Pre-Collision Prevention Drive Assist (PRECISE).

PRECISE is a technology fitted to heavy equipment to detect obstructing objects and calculate their distance while a unit is operating. The machine can then automatically reduce speed and brake, preventing accidents.

"Penghargaan Subroto Award ini menjadi kebanggaan bagi seluruh PPA Group, kedepannya kami akan terus meningkatan inovasi teknologi keselamatan di pertambangan. Kami juga berharap, inovasi yang kami kembangkan ini bisa digunakan oleh perusahaan lain sehingga bisa menciptakan area kerja yang lebih aman," added Joko Triraharjo.

The award complements PPA's haul at the Good Mining Practice (GMP) Award held by the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal at the end of September. PPA won four Aditama (gold) awards for PPA site Adaro Indonesia, PPA site MLP, PPA site Bukit Asam and PPA site Borneo Indobara — making PPA the first Mining Services company to win the Best of the Best trophy in the Standardisation Management and Mineral and Coal Mining Services Business category for three years running from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM).
