PPA Site BIB Secures Six EPSA 2026 Awards, Accelerating Steps Toward Green Mining

PT Putra Perkasa Abadi (PPA) Site Borneo Indobara (BIB) has achieved a significant milestone in environmental management and sustainability by securing six awards at the Eco-Tech Pioneer and Sustainability Awards (EPSA) 2026, held by Diponegoro University (Undip) in Semarang, Central Java, on Friday (28/8).

The six accolades include five Silver Awards and one Bronze Award, recognized for various innovations in environmental management, energy efficiency, waste reduction, and carbon emission mitigation. These achievements span the categories of Eco-Cycle Innovation, Eco-Hazard Innovation, Green Power Innovation, and Low Carbon Innovation.

EPSA 2026 serves as an appreciation platform for companies demonstrating innovation and commitment toward environmental protection and sustainability. The evaluation process involved multiple stages, ranging from paper selections and innovation presentations before a panel of judges to the final award determinations.

In the Eco-Cycle Innovation category, a Silver Award was secured through the application of circular economy principles by processing organic waste into compost. This initiative helps reduce non-hazardous waste generation while converting it into a useful resource. Meanwhile, in the Eco-Hazard Innovation category, another Silver Award was earned through safer and more efficient hazardous waste management, specifically by reusing residual grease inside drums to minimize waste generation and enhance material utilization efficiency.

In energy management, energy efficiency innovations and cleaner energy utilization brought PPA Site BIB a Silver Award under the Green Power Innovation category. One notable effort includes the deployment of Electric Vehicle (EV) Dump Trucks, which supports the reduction of fuel consumption and carbon emissions in daily operations. Additionally, under the Low Carbon Innovation category, three awards—two Silver Awards and one Bronze Award—were claimed through technology-based innovations designed to curb carbon emissions while maintaining operational productivity and effectiveness.

“These awards serve as both recognition and motivation for PPA Group, particularly for us at the BIB project site, to continuously deliver innovations capable of addressing environmental and sustainability challenges. The application of technology, energy efficiency, and consistent environmental management are essential components in realizing more responsible mining operations,” said Agung Budiarto, Operational Manager of Site BIB.

Diponegoro University Rector Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., emphasized the importance of innovation in sustaining the environment, stating that solutions must emerge from technological and engineering innovations aligned with sustainability.

Securing these six EPSA 2026 awards reinforces PPA’s commitment to advancing innovation and technology as part of its transformation toward more efficient, low-emission, and sustainable mining practices. Through waste management, energy efficiency, electric vehicles, and low-carbon technology, PPA continues to drive the implementation of green mining principles while supporting the sustainability of Indonesia’s mining industry.
